Sunset kangaroo shoes

I’ve been busy painting 🙂 Pleased with how these are turning out! In real life they are kind of shimmery. Yes, I will be painting the right shoe too.

  1. Yes, assembly-line art is a perfectly valid way to make a living and I certainly don't judge anyone else who wants to go down that road, but I'd prefer to have a day job if need be and make art I love to make instead. And no, I'm certainly never making the kind of money that really reflects the cost of quality materials and the hours that go into these things, which is a constant tension for any artist really – wanting to be accessible and affordable but also trying to price things fairly to your own efforts… At the moment I'm happy with labours of love like these that provide some pocket money for more art supplies, but with books and prints and other irons I have in the fire I hope that one day I will be able to support myself… 🙂

  2. Wow! Mobile works of art! If you wanted to make quite a bit of extra cash you could set up a stall and sell to tourists. But that sort of thing can be soul-destroying: loses something.Plus you'd have to do dull replicas and not be able to charge what they're really worth.
