I’ve been doing a lot of thinking (while I’ve been too crook to do anything else) about ways to develop more resources and I’ve run a few ideas past the groups that seemed to go down well. A number of members in both Bridges and Sound Minds have amazing stories to tell and wisdom to impart, and I’ve been giving a lot of thought to finding ways of supporting people to do that without them having to get into public speaking. Not to say that some aren’t great public speakers, but there’s certainly plenty who would rather chew off an arm. 🙂 This coming week I’ll be doing some training through Mindshare to help people to tell their stories as a short digital film. That’s very exciting and I hope to use those skills to help people in the groups create little digital stories if they want to. Watch this space! 🙂 In the meantime – baths, books, and maybe some art if I’m feeling well enough. The garden is calling to me but I’m in no fit state to wield a shovel yet. Happy to be feeling so much better and content to bide my time and make good plans.Â
Bridges social
The Dissociation support group I co-facilitate, Bridges, had our second ever social catch up on Friday night. (Which ran very late – hence – no blog post on Saturday!) We went to visit a group member to celebrate their birthday and had a wonderful time. There was a lot of talking, laughing, cake, the occasional tears, it was really good to have the time to get to know each other a bit more without having to run off at the end of the group. I am so excited by the growth of a real community, small but very strong and caring of one another.
I had a wonderful time, I’m so happy about it all. We are planning more regular social events which I am really looking forward to. In the meantime I’m going to spend the rest of this weekend resting up because I now feel pretty wiped out.
