The Hearing Voices Network of SA

There are Hearing Voices Networks around the world and in many other states across Australia. The SA network has been an idea for many years, picked up and then dropped by a number of individuals and organisations, briefly incorporated before the board collapsed, and then taken on as a personal project in caretaker mode by me.

Peer based local resource directing people to our local support groups and other resources. For, by, and about people who hear voices or have other experiences that may be termed ‘psychotic’. All are welcome.

The hearing voices community suffers significant stigma and marginalisation and is at high risk of human rights abuses in services. With social support and access to appropriate resources, people can and do recover or live well with their experiences.

I’m a social entrepreneur, creating local and international networks using online and social media resources. I help link people to resources and communities. All my time in creating the websites, welcome packs and other resources, and facilitating groups is unpaid and voluntary, which amounts to many thousands of hours.
